Resources
Books
Bio-Geoscience Library provides resources for Biology, Geography and Geology. Most of the books and journals are located in the Reading Room. If the requested material is in the stacks, customer can make a call slip request to get the material
- next day after 12.00
- request made before 12.00 can be picked up after 15.00 on the same day
Reference
There is a Quick Reference Collection in the Reading Room. The collection has dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauruses and other core material for bio-geosciences.
Course books
There are some course books available in the library. They are only for reference and overnight/weekend loans. However, please check Volter-database for more information of the location and availability of the books.
Journals
The latest issues of Biology, Geography and Geology journals can be found in alphabetical order in the Entrance Hall of the library. Most of the back copies are in alphabetical order in subject areas in the Reading Room. Most recent journals (12 months) are for library use only. Back copies can be borrowed for 14 days.
Maps
All maps are kept in a Map Collection in the Reading Room. They are mainly for library use only. However, there are some soil and bedrock maps (call number in Volter-database: ML Bio-Geo Maant.Geol.Suo) which can be borrowed for 28 days. Also a collection of maps in call number ML Bio-geo Kart.Lainattavat is available for 28 days borrowing.
Theses
Theses of Mathematics and Science Faculty are mainly kept within the departments. Most of the theses have been catalogued in Volter database. Please contact the following departments for more information: Biodiversity & Environmental Science, Ecology, Animal Physiology, Zoology, Genetics, Geology, Plant Fysiology, Botany and Geography.
Photocopying, scanning & printing
There are several computers which can be used for printing as well (10 snt/page). A scanner is connected to one of the computers with photo editing program. A photocopier is situated in the Entrance Hall. Photocopying cards can be purchased at the Loans Service Desk.
Premises & equipment
There are approximately 40 study places and a bookable group work room for 11 people in the library. Five computers can be used for research and study and the wireless SparkNet is in operation in most of the library areas. Microfilm reader is also available in the Reading Room.
