The Main Library provides open access to all users. As a deposit library Turku University Library receives free copies of all publications printed in Finland. In addition to the deposit collection Main Library also has extensive international collections in interdisciplinary sciences, general sciences, humanities and social sciences.
The Loans Desk, Reading Room and Journals Collection are located on the second floor. There are also photocopiers and microfilm and microfiche readers available as well as computers for research and study.
Most of the Main Library's printed resources are placed in closed stacks (call numbers PÄÄ Fennica and PÄÄ Genera in Volter catalogue). Customers can make call slip requests for the material. If the call slip has been placed before 12 o?clock on workdays (Monday to Friday), the material will be available for pickup the next workday after 3 pm. Otherwise it will be available for borrowing the next workday after 12 o?clock.
