BORROWING

Library card

Library users are required to have a library card to borrow and request library material. The card must be presented when checking out material from the library. Library card can be obtained from any library unit of the Turku University Library. To obtain a library card, customers must present proof of identity. The library card is personal, and the card holder is responsible for all items borrowed with it. Customers are obliged to notify the library of name and address changes (customer information). It is also advisable to inform the library as soon as possible if you lose your card to prevent malpractices. Replacement for a lost library card is chargeable. Library card holders are required to comply with the library borrowing rules.

Through the Volter database a customer with a valid library card can make requests and recalls, renew loans, change personal identification number (PIN) and check personal information, charged items, requests and recalls, fines and fees.

Student card of the Student Union serves also as a library card. Library receives automatically basic information about the new students from the student register. Student card can be used as a library card also after graduation as long as the customer keeps patron information updated.

Library and student cards of other Finnish universities can be registered at loans service desks to serve as a library card also in the Turku University Library.

You can get a library card in case you do not have a student card or a library card to other Finnish university library.
