INTERLIBRARY SERVICES

The Interlibrary Loan Services in Turku University Library facilitates your research by obtaining from other libraries the books and journal articles not available in any of the library collections in Turku. The Interlibrary Loan Services also provides other libraries the books and journal articles not available in their collections.

Interlibrary loan can be a home loan, intended only for reading room use or a paper copy of original material. Journal articles are delivered as paper copies. Copying and mediating rights of electronic full text material for Interlibrary Loan Services are defined in the licensing agreement of each electronic resource.

Ordering material from other libraries

Material from other Finnish or foreign libraries can be ordered for a customer of Turku University Library, if the material is not available in any of the library collections in Turku. Interlibrary loan services are chargeable > Pricelist of Services. Materials of Turku University libraries in Pori and Rauma can also be requested through Interlibrary Loan Services. Service fee covers postage > Pricelist of Services.

You can place requests electronically through the link on the right. You will be charged according to the valid prices. You will also be responsible for any charges that may be imposed because of the loss or damage of borrowed material. Requests with incomplete citations will be returned to you for additional information. Turku University Library offers interlibrary loan services at the Main Library, Medical Library and libraries in Pori and Rauma.

The lending library will also determine the loan period. Due date will be displayed on the material when you receive it. There may be other restrictions on the use of the material and you will be informed of these when you pick it up. Some types of materials (i.e. master's theses, rare or fragile books) may be non-circulating at many libraries.

If you have requested that the invoice is to be sent to a university department or other such unit, we will be able to send the material to you by internal post. Otherwise, requested items will be held at the Loans service desk for you after notification of their receipt.

Very important!

Before submitting an ILL request, please check the library online catalogue Volter to ensure that the library does not own the material. You should also check the listing of full text journals available online through our Nelli-portal and the catalogues of other libraries in Turku.

Sending materials to other libraries

Turku University library sends other libraries material mainly for reading room use. Course books can be requested only by Turku university students. Interlibrary loan request should be made in the library where the material is wanted to be sent. Contact your nearby library, if you can't visit Turku University Library personally. Turku University Library offers interlibrary loan services at the Main Library, Medical Library and libraries in Pori and Rauma.
