Loan periods
Loan periods and borrowing limits vary according to library, more information can be found under the heading Libraries.
Loan periods in general:
In the Main Library
- Material from the closed stocks can be ordered by making a call slip request : If the call slip request has been made on a working day (Mon-Fri) before 12.00 am, the material will be delivered the same day after 15.00. Otherwise the material will be delivered next working day after 12.00 am.
- books:
- loan period is 28 days
- some of the books, e.g. Finnish fiction, theses, old and deteriorated books, are available only for reading room use
- journals:
- Finnish journals are available only for reading room use
- loan period for foreign journals is 14 days (applies to journals which date back more than one year)

In the Course Book Library
- loan period is 14 days
- short-term loans 2 days
- loan period for reading room collection is one night / weekend
- can be borrowed one hour before closing time, returning next working day at 10.00
In the Humanities Library
- loan period is 14 days
- journals, theses, dictionaries and reference books are available only for reading room use
In the Library of Cultural Production and Landscape Studies (Pori)
- loan period is 28 days
- loan period for course books is 14 days
- reference books are available for night and weekend loans
- can be borrowed one hour before closing time, returning next working day during the first customer service hour.
In the Library of Educational and Social Sciences
- loan period is 28 days
- loan period for course books is 14 days
- loan period for reading room collection is one night / weekend
- can be borrowed one hour before closing time, returning next working day at 10.00
- journals, theses and reference books are available only for reading room use
In Mathematics and Science Library
- loan period is 28 days
- loan period for journals is 14 days (applies to journals which date back more than one year)
- loan period for course books is overnight / weekend only
- can be borrowed one hour before closing time, returning next working day at 10.00
- library collections in Mathematics and Information Science libraries are for reference only (except for staff)
- Many of the faculties also have their own departmental collections and reference libraries. Please contact the staff of each department for more information of the access and use of these resources
In Law Library
- only night and weekend loans
- night and weekend loans can be borrowed one hour before closing, returning next working day morning at 10.00
- journals, parliamentary documents, compendium of cases and statutes are available only for reading room use
In the Library of Medical Faculty
- loan period is 28 days
- loan period for course books is 14 days
- loan period for reading room copies of course books is one night / weekend
- night and weekend loans can be borrowed one hour before closing, returning next working day at 10.00
- loan period for journals is 14 days (applies to journals which date back more than one year)
In the Library of the Department of Teacher Education in Rauma
- loan period is 28 days
- can be borrowed one hour before closing, returning next working day morning during the first customer service hour
