Lending services available to everyone
The lending services of Turku University Library are available to everyone. Every library user, also others than Turku University staff and students, can borrow library materials. Printed materials are available either for home loans or for reading room use. Detailed information about using the library?s electronic resources can be found under the heading Electronic resources.
Borrower needs a valid library card. The online catalogue Volter contains information needed to locate the materials belonging to the Turku University Library.
The loan periods are as follows:
- Non-loanable materials can be used only in the library premises.
- Night and weekend loans from the reading room and reference collections of the Course book library and the discipline-specific libraries with certain exceptions.
- Night and weekend loans will be given from certain reference library collections during the last opening hour of the library. From the Humanities library and the Law library night loans will be given Monday-Thursday at 15 o'clock and weekend loans Friday at 13 o'clock.
- The loans must be returned during the first customer service hour of the library.
- 2 day short loan period for the most popular course books in the Course book library.
- 7 day loan period for theses in those libraries where they are lent out (where there are duplicates of the material).
- 14 day loan period for periodicals (only material dating back more than one year) in libraries where periodicals are given as home loans (in some libraries periodicals are not allowed out on loan).
- 14 day loan period for course books.
- 14 day loan period for reading room loans, available only in the Main library. Includes deposit loans for reading room use, theses and the old and valuable material.
- 14 day loan period for books in the Humanities library
- 28 day loan period for other book material
